Healthcare Assistant - Sheppard, Portman and Triscombe Ward

Job Summary

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate Health Care Support Assistants to join our dedicated team on Sheppard Ward, Triscombe Older Persons Unit, and Portman Ward. These units provide care for older adults with complex medical, physical, and cognitive needs, focusing on compassionate, person-centred care including mobility support, dementia care, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team under nurse supervision to deliver fundamental care and support patients in achieving shared goals.

Responsibilities

Deliver fundamental care to patients under nurse supervision
Support patients with mobility, dementia care, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management
Work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, dignified, and holistic care
Participate flexibly in shift patterns and on-call service after training
Engage in continuous learning and professional development

Requirements

Numeracy and literacy level 1 or equivalent (essential)
NVQ2 in Healthcare or willingness to undertake Level 2 NVQ within 1 year (desirable)
Basic Life Support (desirable)
Experience in hospital or care setting (desirable)
Demonstrate core trust values
Subject to Disclosure and Barring Service check

Technical Skills

Ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Good communication skills
Willingness to learn and adapt
